Access to Climbing in SW Montana

The SMCC works hard to ensure access to climbs in SW Montana. Among our accomplishments are:
1) Hyalite Canyon Winter Access: When the Forest Service proposed closing the Hyalite road very low down and very early in the season, we realized it would negatively impact Bozeman's ice climbing ... as in, shut it down! We worked with the FS until they understood the importance of Hyalite to ice climbers, and many other user groups in Montana.
2) Allenspur Rock Climbing: Allenspur is the best limestone crag near Livingston, but you couldn't legally access it until SMCC members got involved, and started talking to folks ...
3) Bozeman Pass: One morning a couple of years ago the MDT started work on I-90 past the climbing in Rocky Canyon. Whoa! talk about sketchy! Trucks blasting by! With a little conversation, however, the MDT was working with us to find an alternative access from Trail Creek exit.
